先週末にシカゴから友人が来ていた。仕事半分、遊び半分。
My friend was visiting me from Chicago in last weekend for half work and half joy.
同じ学校に通ったクラスメートであり、シカゴのSOMで一緒に机を並べた同僚でもある。毎週水曜日の仕事の後には会社の裏にあるバーに飲みに行き、週末は多様な人が集まるパーティーによく誘ってくれた。奥さんもメジャーな会社のインテリアデザイナーで、よく賞をもらっている。
He was my classmate at school and we were colleagues at SOM in Chicago. Every Wednesday after work was our drinking situation at nearby bar, and he often invited me to multi-cultural parties in weekends.
His wife is also a respectable interior designer and working for a major design company, and has received several awards in the past.
１０年間SOMで働いていた彼のポートフォリオには、輝かしい作品が並んでいた。
久し振りに近況を語りあい、今後一緒に仕事をする可能性をオフィスで話した。
His portfolio was filled with prestigious works that he took care in the last 10 years at SOM.
We discussed about a possibility to work together.
日曜日はラグナビーチに行き、ビーチを見渡すバーで一杯。
On Sunday, we went to Laguna Beach and had a nice drink overlooking the beach.

その日の夜は、レドンドビーチのレストランで食事。ヨーロッパ出身で、コーヒーとワインにとても強いこだわりがあり、184cm ある僕が見上げて話をする彼は195cmもある。
”2メートルよりちょっと低いぐらいかな”
と微笑んでいた。
At night, we had dinner at Redondo Beach. He is originally from Europe and was very selective about coffee and wine. I am 6 feet tall, but I had to look up to talk to him because he was 6'-4"...
"I am a little shorter then 2 meters."
He smiled.
