Dawn - 夜明け

今は朝８時。ＬＡから北に１時間ほど行った町にあるスターバックスに一杯のコーヒーと一緒に座っている。今朝は９：３０からでプレゼンテーション。プロジェクトの場所はフロリダ。朝２時まで仕上げをし、４時に起きてＬＡから南に１時間の所にある自宅を出発。道が空いていれば合計で２時間で着くが、ＬＡの交通渋滞に巻き込まれると確実にその倍はかかる。
I am sitting in Starbucks with a cup of coffee next to me in a city one hour north of LA, and waiting for my project presentation time at 9:30A.M. The project location is Florida. I worked till 2:00A.M. and woke up at 4:00A.M., then left my house located one hour south of LA. If there is no traffic, the total driving time is about 2 hours, but if there is an accident or a jam, it easily takes the double.

ミーティングに遅れるのが嫌いなので、いつもかなりの余裕を見て出かける。早く着いたら近くのカフェで仕事をしていれば良いだけだし、それが楽しくもある。
I don't like to be late for any meetings, so I usually leave with plenty of time ahead. If I get to the destination early, I can work on my laptop in a cafe, and that is pretty enjoyable.

今朝はまずＬＡのオフィスに寄って、必要なものを取ってから出発。７時前には着いてしまった。
ちょっと早すぎたかも・・・。
After stopped by my office in LA to pick up some documents, I started driving toward north. When I arrived at the destination, it was still before 7:00 A.M...I guess it was a little too early.

夏時間になったため、やっと空が明るくなってきた。
Since we are in Summer Time, it was still dim outside.

半月と外灯に照らされた葉。
Leaves lit by the half moon and street lights.



会社に勤めていた時は、よく徹夜した事を覚えている。他に朝まで残る人は殆どいなかったが。

朝８時近くになると、さっきまで全く人がいなかった町に人が溢れ出し、一気に日常に引きずり戻された。いつも不思議な感覚を覚えた。
When I was working for a company, I remember that I worked thought the night many times. Only few people did that with me. Around 8:00A.M., crowd started occupying the empty streets, and the scene pulled me back to the reality. It was always a strange moment to me.
